Items in Your House You Don’t Clean (but should)

We all have those items in our house that need cleaning, but rarely receive it. And ironically, sometimes the items that receive the least amount of cleaning are the most obvious in our homes.

  1. Front of your stove and dishwasher.

3 Secrets for Keeping Your House Clean all Summer Long

It’s summer time! The kids are out of school, the relatives are coming to visit, and there’s more traffic on your carper and floors than there has been in the past 6 months.

Summer is a wonderful time to relax and let your hair down, but it’s also the most challenging time to keep your house clean and organized. We want to share 3 secret tips for keeping your house clean throughout the long summer months.

Here we go!

1. Keep a set of cleaning supplies in every room.

It’s hard to sweep the floors if you have to walk across the entire house and hunt down the broom in your garage or laundry room. Keep several different sets of cleaning supplies on hand in the main rooms of your house (living room, master bedroom, kitchen, etc).

By making your cleaning supplies readily available, you will be more motivated to grab the broom and sweep the floors.

2. Put the dishes directly in the dishwasher.

The kitchen will look 70% cleaner if the sink is empty of dishes. During the long days of summer, it’s easy to fall behind on the dishes. Avoid the pileups by putting each dish directly in the dishwasher instead of the sink. Right after you (or the kids) use a dish, rinse it off and set it inside the dishwasher. Then, run your dishwasher each evening for a fresh and clean looking kitchen.

Keeping your sink clean will also motivate you to keep your counters free of clutter. Without even trying very hard, your kitchen will look fresh all summer long.

3. Do a 5 minute power clean after every meal.

One of the biggest mistakes people make is waiting until their house is a wreck before cleaning it. Our advice? Don’t let it get to the “wreck” stage and it will never become overwhelmingly dirty. Set aside 5 quick minutes after every meal to do a power clean of the main areas of your house. Spend 5 minutes speed-walking around your house and de-cluttering each room for 1 minute.

This takes a maximum of 15 minutes a day and will help you keep the clutter from turning into huge, overwhelming piles of junk.

So there you have it!

3 secrets for keeping your house clean all summer long. And on those days when you just can’t muster up the energy to clean, you can always call The White Glove Maid Service (210-342-3878). We’ve got your back all summer long.

How to Choose a Maid Service in San Antonio

Choosing the right maid service company can be an overwhelming task. By asking the right questions, you can sift out the “less than professional” companies pretty quickly. Below is a list 5 helpful questions to assist you in doing just that.

1. How long has the company been in business and who owns it.
Bad maid services do not last long. A locally owned service has roots in the city. A franchise tends to change owners frequently and are usually more expensive due to franchise costs. The White Glove Maid Service has been locally owned in San Antonio since 1982.

2. Check with the Better Business Bureau.
A company with unresolved complaints is a sign of trouble. The White Glove Maid Service in San Antonio maintains an A+ rating with the BBB.

3. Does the company hire maids as employees or contract labor?
Contract labor leaves you responsible for taxes. The White Glove Maid Service NEVER uses contract labor.

4. Does the company carry bonding and liability insurance?
Insurance is important, but your biggest protection is who the company hires in the first place. Some maid services are so desperate for workers they will hire anyone who walks in the door. The White Glove Maid are all bonded and insured.

5. How are the maids hired and trained?
A vigorous training and hiring program encourages quality and honesty.

St. Patrick’s Day Green Cleaning

White Glove Green Cleaner

What comes to mind when you think of St. Patrick’s Day? For most people, visions of the color green is the first thing that comes to mind. Will you be sporting green this coming March 17th? We will at the White Glove Maid Service. Our maids will be decked out in their dark green cleaning shirts (never mind that they wear green all the time). But clothing isn’t the only green thing we’ll be sporting this St. Patrick’s Day.

Unlike other maid services, we make an intentional effort to use many earth friendly, or “green” cleaning products. In fact, our HOST dry carpet cleaning product is the greenest cleaner on the market right now. We know how to get the job done right without using unnecessary harsh chemicals on your house.

Give your house a treat this St. Patrick’s Day with a “green” house or carpet cleaning from the White Glove Maid Service.
