This is the perfect time of year to get back into this kind of mindset. After all, it isn’t happy people who are grateful, it’s grateful people who are happy.

  1. Mind your manners. Say please, thank you and excuse me.
  2. Smile when you see your family. Turn your frown upside down.
  3. Pick up after yourself.
  4. Notice when others do kind things for you, show gratitude by action or words.
  5. Say I love you before going to bed.
  6. Give hugs daily.
  7. Don’t worry about tomorrow. Focus on what you are happy about today.

Happy Thanksgiving from the White Glove Maid Service. May your clean house have the aroma of fresh baked pumpkins this week.

Need a Maid Service in San Antonio?

Are you looking for a reliable and professional maid service company in San Antonio? With dozens of options to choose from, it can feel overwhelming.

Here are 10 reasons why we believe The White Glove Maid Service will be the best fit for your home:

1: Why should I choose The White Glove Maid Service over other companies?

The White Glove Maid Service is the oldest locally owned maid service in San Antonio. Our maids goes through a ten step hiring and training process before they ever come to your home. Our maids have all been throughly screened before they ever enter your home. This includes references checks, criminal background checks and extensive training. Our maids are professionals dedicated to cleaning. In fact, many of our maids have been with us for 10-20 years.

2: How long have you been in business house cleaning?

The White Glove Maid Service was founded in 1982 by Mike and Heidi Baird, it has been locally owned ever since. In 1982, fresh out of college, Mike and Heidi started cleaning homes to support themselves. As business grew they added employees and started managing the business. In 1990 the founded the American Maid Service Association and provided professional training materials to maid services across the country. Today The White Glove is the oldest family owned maid service in San Antonio.

3: What services are offered?

Please check our Services page for full details, but here is a brief outline.
Spring Cleaning – For a deep, heavy cleaning of your home.
Maintenance cleaning – For maintaining your home on a regular basis.
Move out cleaning and move in cleaning – to help make life’s transitions easier.
Specialty services – hourly cleaning tailored to your specific needs.
Host dry carpet cleaning – for the deepest, longest lasting green carpet cleaning with no dry time. Tile and grout cleaning – to keep your tile floors looking new.

4: What are you prices?

All of our prices are very affordable. Instead of a cookie cutter approach we tailor each job to your specific needs. Feel free to call us at 210-342-3878 for a free, no obligation, over the phone quote.

5: Can I trust your employees?

We never hire any maid that we would not feel comfortable allowing in to clean our own home. All of our employees are bonded and insured for your protection. Background checks are done on every employee before they begin working for us. We also require up to three references per employee. Finally, all maids go through our 10 steps hiring and training process.

6: Do your maids receive professional training?

Only one in twenty applicants become White Glove Maid maids. All of our maids go through a vigorous 10 step hiring and training process before ever entering a customers home alone. Their progress is monitored carefully and they must pass inspection by one of our supervisors before they become official employees of our company.

7: Is everyone who works for your company employed by you?

Yes. We never use contract labor and we pay all social security and employment taxes.

8: Why don’t I just hire a private individual to save money?

A quick internet search will reveal the danger of choosing this option. When you hire a private individual you are taking a giant gamble. The top three reasons not to hire an individual are:
1. Criminals won’t be hired by professional maid services but they can be hired unwittingly by you. Most home owners don’t have the skill or time to do criminal background checks.
2. If a private maid is hurt while cleaning your home YOU are responsible for all her hospital bills. She is your employee.
3. You are responsible for paying your private maids social security taxes. This liability never goes away. At any point in the future you could be called upon to pay all the employment taxes you failed to collect and report-with penalties and interest.

9: What if the maids don’t do a good job in my house?

Our goal is 100% customer satisfaction. We are not happy until you are happy! You will be asked to inspect and approve the cleaning before the maid leaves. If you are not at home when the cleaning is done call us within 24 hours and we will correct any areas that were part of your scheduled cleaning.

10: What if I have to cancel my appointment?

We work hard to provide our employees with a full work schedule every week. Last minute cancellations cause them to miss work and end up with a short paycheck. For this reason we require a 24 hour notice for all cancellations. Failure to call us 24 hours ahead of time will result in a cancellation fee of $50.

If you’re not convinced yet, please check out our 4.3 star rating on google with over 100 reviews from real customers. Call us at 210-342-3878 to schedule your cleaning today.

Items in Your House You Don’t Clean (but should)

We all have those items in our house that need cleaning, but rarely receive it. And ironically, sometimes the items that receive the least amount of cleaning are the most obvious in our homes.

  1. Front of your stove and dishwasher.

4 Savvy Insights for Hiring the Best Maid Service

Woman Vacuuming San Antonio Maid Service

To avoid future headaches, the company you hire should meet the 4 following criteria.

1. All maids must be employees of the firm, NOT contract labor.

If you hire a maid from a service that uses contract labor you become the employer just as if you hired that person from a newspaper ad.

You will be stuck paying all the taxes and accepting all the liability. Services that hire their maids as contract labor may be cheaper but you end up legally and financiallyvulnerable.

2. Make sure the maids are bonded.

Bonding is the insurance that covers theft by a maid. Be aware that your word is not good enough to file a claim. If you expect the bonding company to pay a claim you must press charges against the thief and get a conviction.

Without a conviction your only recourse will be to ask the maid service to pay for the loss or file a claim against your homeowner’s policy. Choose your maid service carefully! If the service has followed good hiring guidelines you can feel secure that the maid they send out is honest and trustworthy.

3. The next crucial item to require is insurance.

Insurance will cover any damage to you or your property. The company should be willing to pay the deductible and for small items not covered by the policy. For example, most insurance policies will not pay for a figurine the maid breaks while she is dusting it. A quality maid service will be willing to step in and pay for the item. They should not expect the maid to pay for it or ask you to collect from your own insurance.

4. Make sure the company carries worker’s compensation.

This is the insurance that covers the maid if she is hurt while cleaning your house. It will also protect you from having a claim filed against you. Remember, a company that uses contract labor will not carry this policy. The bonding, worker’s comp. and insurance do add to the cleaning cost, but the added protection you get is well worth it. Don’t assume that the company you call has these policies, always ask before you commit.

Once you have verified these items and followed the “Maid Service Checklist ” you are ready to go!

It should be a relief to know there are actually people out there who are glad you have a dirty house and want to clean it for you. That’s exactly what we specialize in at The White Glove Maid Service.

Remember, you aren’t paying to have your house cleaned when you hire a maid. You are buying free time to use on the things that are more important in your life!

3 Secrets for Keeping Your House Clean all Summer Long

It’s summer time! The kids are out of school, the relatives are coming to visit, and there’s more traffic on your carper and floors than there has been in the past 6 months.

Summer is a wonderful time to relax and let your hair down, but it’s also the most challenging time to keep your house clean and organized. We want to share 3 secret tips for keeping your house clean throughout the long summer months.

Here we go!

1. Keep a set of cleaning supplies in every room.

It’s hard to sweep the floors if you have to walk across the entire house and hunt down the broom in your garage or laundry room. Keep several different sets of cleaning supplies on hand in the main rooms of your house (living room, master bedroom, kitchen, etc).

By making your cleaning supplies readily available, you will be more motivated to grab the broom and sweep the floors.

2. Put the dishes directly in the dishwasher.

The kitchen will look 70% cleaner if the sink is empty of dishes. During the long days of summer, it’s easy to fall behind on the dishes. Avoid the pileups by putting each dish directly in the dishwasher instead of the sink. Right after you (or the kids) use a dish, rinse it off and set it inside the dishwasher. Then, run your dishwasher each evening for a fresh and clean looking kitchen.

Keeping your sink clean will also motivate you to keep your counters free of clutter. Without even trying very hard, your kitchen will look fresh all summer long.

3. Do a 5 minute power clean after every meal.

One of the biggest mistakes people make is waiting until their house is a wreck before cleaning it. Our advice? Don’t let it get to the “wreck” stage and it will never become overwhelmingly dirty. Set aside 5 quick minutes after every meal to do a power clean of the main areas of your house. Spend 5 minutes speed-walking around your house and de-cluttering each room for 1 minute.

This takes a maximum of 15 minutes a day and will help you keep the clutter from turning into huge, overwhelming piles of junk.

So there you have it!

3 secrets for keeping your house clean all summer long. And on those days when you just can’t muster up the energy to clean, you can always call The White Glove Maid Service (210-342-3878). We’ve got your back all summer long.
